About The Library

The GIA Library offers a variety of gemological and jewelry-related materials and services to meet the needs of students, staff, alumni, scholars, industry professionals, as well as the general public.  

All patrons are welcome to visit the library for on-campus research, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 5:00 pm. When requesting an appointment, please send an email or call during normal business hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm OR please contact the library at least one business day in advance to arrange access. Staff and current students may borrow print materials for a week and can renew them three times. For those who cannot visit the Carlsbad library, we have digital materials available.”

Some services offered by the library are limited to GIA Headquarters employees.

The library provides a wide variety of gemstone-and-jewelry-related resources for students, staff, researchers, alumni, members of the industry, and the general public. While we strive to make our materials as accessible as possible, not all materials are available to all patrons, and not all of our materials may be borrowed.
