Laboratory-Grown Diamond Reports & Services Details

LABORATORY-GROWN DIAMOND REPORTS

GIA laboratory-grown diamond reports include 4Cs color and clarity specifications for laboratory-grown diamonds on the same scales as the GIA’s grading reports for natural diamonds. The specifications do not correlate to nature’s continuum of rarity. The digital-only reports for laboratory-grown diamonds have a distinct format to fully differentiate them from reports for natural diamonds. The laboratory-grown diamond’s girdle is laser inscribed with "Laboratory-Grown" and the GIA report number.

Laboratory-Grown Diamond Report

The GIA Laboratory-Grown Diamond Report includes full 4Cs assessment with a plotted clarity diagram, and an assessment of growth type and post-growth treatment. Color and clarity specification are described on the same scale as the GIA Diamond Grading Report for natural diamonds, but do not correlate to nature’s continuum of rarity. The laboratory-grown diamond’s girdle is laser inscribed with the term "Laboratory-Grown" and its GIA report number. Digital-only report.

Laboratory-Grown Diamond Report – Dossier

The GIA Laboratory-Grown Diamond Report – Dossier includes full 4Cs assessment described on the same scale as the GIA Diamond Dossier® for natural diamonds, but does not correlate to nature’s continuum of rarity. The laboratory-grown diamond’s girdle is laser inscribed with the term "Laboratory-Grown" and its GIA report number. Digital-only report.

Submission Criteria

  • 0.15 to 9.99 carats globally (up to 3.99 carats in Surat)

  • Loose

  • D-to-Z laboratory-grown diamonds

Laboratory-Grown Colored Diamond Report

The GIA Laboratory-Grown Colored Diamond Report includes full 4Cs assessment with a plotted clarity diagram, and an assessment of growth type and post-growth treatment. Color and clarity specifications are described on the same scale as the GIA Colored Diamond Grading Report for natural diamonds, but does not correlate to nature’s  continuum of rarity. Laboratory-Grown Colored Diamond Report - Color Identification

The GIA Laboratory-Grown Colored Diamond Report – Color Identification describes specifications for color and color distribution, and an assessment of growth type and post-growth treatment. The laboratory-grown diamond’s girdle is laser inscribed with the term "Laboratory-Grown" and its GIA report number. Digital-only report.

  • 0.15 carats and up

  • Colored laboratory-grown diamonds

Add-On Services

GIA Add-On Services give you further information or security for your laboratory-grown diamond. Must accompany a report service or follow-up service. Certain services can be expedited for an additional fee; exceptions will apply.
 

Laser Inscription

Personalize your laboratory-grown diamond with any text, symbols, or logos. All laboratory-grown diamond reports include laser inscription of the unique GIA report number and the phrase “Laboratory-Grown” for easy identification.

Digital Photograph

A digital photograph of your laboratory-grown colored diamond can be included on your Laboratory-Grown Colored Diamond Report or Laboratory-Grown Colored Diamond Report – Color Identification.

Diamond Color Treatment Letter

If the comment on the laboratory-grown report indicates potential treatment, a Diamond Color Treatment letter can be requested to provide the specific color treatment method.

  • Letter can be requested without resubmitting the diamond.

AGS Ideal® Report

The AGS Ideal® Report brought to you by GIA is offered as a supplement to any of our natural or laboratory-grown D-to-Z reports. This digital report provides the unparalleled AGS Light Performance, backed by rigorous science, with GIA’s industry-leading diamond grading reports. This report includes an ASET® Map, which was created to be a visual guide of a diamond’s cut grade. ASET® Map may be omitted upon request.

Submission Criteria

  • Loose natural or laboratory-grown

  • D-to-Z color 

  • Eligible shapes: round brilliant and specific facet arrangements of cushion, oval, emerald, radiant, princess, and fancy round

Service Restrictions
An AGS Ideal® Report will only be issued for diamonds that receive an assessment of Excellent Polish, Excellent Symmetry and Excellent Cut.*

Recheck and Final Observation
Request a reassessment of your diamond's grading results. Service must be requested before the item is returned. Final Observation service only available for Diamond Grading Report. May request recheck service for Diamond Focus Report, special restrictions apply.

Recheck And Final Observation

Request a re-assessment of your laboratory-grown diamond’s color, cut, clarity, color origin, polish, symmetry, measurements or fluorescence results and a new report will be issued.

Service Restrictions
Must be requested during the time of service before the item is returned. If requested within sixty days after the item is returned, the original report must be submitted and an Update service must be performed prior to the Recheck or Final Observation.

Follow-Up Services

Verify, re-evaluate or update results from your original GIA Report through GIA Follow-Up Services.
 

Update

Submit your laboratory-grown diamond to be re-graded based on its current conditions. Update service can accompany Add-On services such as Sealing or Inscription where a re-evaluation of the laboratory-grown diamond is required prior to performing the Add-On service.

  • Must be submitted along with its original GIA report

Re-Examination

If your GIA-graded laboratory-grown diamond has been re-cut, submit your laboratory-grown diamond for a Re-Examination. The laboratory-grown diamond will go through the grading process and a new report will be issued.

  • Must be submitted along with its original GIA report

Report Verification

Confirm that your GIA report matches your laboratory-grown diamond. Not available for stones that have been mounted after initial laboratory-grown Dossier service is complete.
