[...] The vzdummy means this is a VPS, correct? Did you install it yourself, or are you using a hosted VPS? I'm going to guess that the kernel you are using is monolithic, and has any needed modules builtin to it, except that it is probably missing the nat module (and maybe some other functionality). In the /boot directory, you may see a config file for this kernel that will show you exactly what functionality was compiled into it. If you are hosting the VPS yourself, this might help: http://pearlin.info/enable-nat-modul...oes-not-exist/ [...]

Additional information in the Parallels KB:
http://kb.parallels.com/en/746

In addition to the "vzctl set --iptables" method, you can also edit /etc/sysconfig/vz to affect all containers globally. I spent hours trying to find this information.

i downloaded centos 5.6 x86 64bit live cd iso. tried to boot it from usb and cd but it does not work. i even tried to make usb live with the help of unetbootin, linux usb installer, ultraiso, linux live and numerous other usb live image makers but in vain.
the cd/usb boots, the grub shows the boot menu, a few error messages regarding some memory issues and then the command shell. thats all. The relase notes / faq of centos do not address this issue. it seems that there is somes but in the os as error message shows that there is no root file system and therefore it leave at the command shell.

any help????

To test ur sgid, just do the following steps.

1) add 3 users in the name of a, b and c.
2) make a group oracle.
3) make a directory /data.
4) change the group of /data to oracle.
5) change the group of a and b to oracle.
6) chmod g+w /data
7) chmod g+s /data
8) now just "su - a" and create a file under /data.
then "su - b" and try to edit that file. u can edit but under "su - c", this operation is not permitted.

The reason is that only the people of "oracle" group can have the access to modify and read that........not for others.

Thank U.

Hi Acid_Test

Someone pointed me to your comment and asked for a response.
I wrote some lines in my blog, see http://alien.slackbook.org/blog/about/#comment-12412 if you are interested.
Feel free to answer there, not here, because this will be my only post on this site. I have no interest in pearlin.info and will not check the place for updates.

Tried using Kword lately Alien Bob?
How about that Kpackage program?

The general consensus is that you release the software as it was intended to be released, unmodified. But that is a lie as you rewrite stuff to not include PAM. KNetworkManager is missing too which is a major component of KDE. You can build it without PAM or Gnome just so you know.

See it looks as if you are following Shuttleworth's lead, release, release, release.... Even broken just release.

Point is 13 pissed people off. You "hear" a lot about stability but KDE 4.2 wasn't stable now was it? And neither is 4.3, 4.4 or even 4.5. Vista took a long time for Microsoft to get out because they completely rewrote it (6 years). 7 is just a continuation on Vista. No they aren't rewriting much anymore. Takes about 10 years to get something cooked well done.

Redhat still includes KDE 3.5.4 because, "IT'S STABLE". Yes it's stable. And good golly Mrs. Molly they still use 2.6.18's kernel.

Why don't you put the multilib support into extra?

So given slackware 12.2 (32bit), it's kernel can be recompiled with PAE enabled which will give you up to 64GB of ram. I'd recomend any serious takers to stick to that.
